Zune Marketplace Down for upgrading

So the Zune will be down for upgrading from 7-11pm (Sydney/Melbourne) on the 10th (today). So what could this mean. Here's a list:
1. They are upgrading to add new downloadable features (Video Downloads, etc.)
2. They are adding Support for new players (most likely)
3. They are adding more Video/Audio Codecs (I wish)
4. They're not doing anything. It's just down to make up speculate and get all excited :(

I will keep you posted on this subject, Here's the actual release:

Zune Marketplace will be unavailable for approximately 4 hours to upgrade the service starting:

leaked : Zune 2 accessory price sheet

Over at Zunerama, they got a pic of the pricing sheet for the Zune 2.0 Accessories. Here's the pic:
Zune 2 accessory price sheet

Thanks to our source at GameCrazy, who saw his manager reviewing the new pricing and snagged a pic of it.

What does it say?:
1. MP - Zune AC Adapter (V2) - $29.99
2. MP - Zune Cable Pack (V2) - $39.99
3. MP - Zune Car Pack (V2) - $79.99
4. MP - Zune Dock Pack (V2) - $49.99
5. MP - Zune Home AV Pack (V2) - $99.99
6. MP - Zune Sync Cable (V2) - $19.99

MP, I assume, stands for media player. V2, again assuming, stands for version 2. This i pretty much the same pricing as the accessories for the current Zune. This is just more evidence that a new Zune will be appearing this year.

Zune Enhancements

FIRST: Read my previous post, then proceed to indulge yourself in my enchanting hypothesis about the so-called Zune Enhancements.

These enhancements are probably mostly Wifi based. I think that the Zune team may have left out Wifi feature for one reason. They want to create a sort of P2P network. Where one person is connected via wifi to a hotspot, then sends the signal out for others to use and so on. This could create a big web, so that maybe, just maybe, there will be wifi everywhere. This also could be used for the sending feature. You could send songs to people hundreds on meters away.

Just imagine the shock for apple when the new Zune lineup comes out (as said in the previous post), and these new Wifi features come out. All they need is a good marketing campaign so that lots of people have a Zune. This would be great for community areas, as they like to promote, such as shopping malls, city streets, parks, etc.

What if the Zune team has been actively working with music companies to work out a deal. What about extending that 3day3play crap. What about wireless streaming. As in, if I am listening to music, I can transmit it over wifi (or the fm transmitter) and people can tune in and listen to what Im listening to. What about public photo libraries or playlists? How about sending podcast feeds or episodes? What about any rss feed, whether it be text, podcast, etc? Just a few ideas there.

What about an online store. Top music, Top Videos, Trailers, Top user submitted images (excludes porn, etc.) at the tip of your fingertips. Withe the Zune Pass you can access all of this. They could make a lot of money off this if they got lots of people to sign up for the Zune Pass service. Maybe have a US$4.99 version for just the Zune online store (the one on the Zune, not on the pc), but maybe the songs are just kept on the Zune and not added to the computer. I know what you are saying, it should be free, but we know that sort of stuff wont happen unless they make it cost something.

Non Wifi Enhancements (software only):
1. Option of a list or icon based menu.
2. Visualisations
3. A clock (maybe just maybe, Im sure it doesnt take that much to add a clock)
4. A now playing option on the main menu (i know about the back button thing, but if you are viewing pictures while listening to music, it goes to the pictures and not the now playing when you press the back button)
5. Some more of those album art replacement things, because seeing the same sort of thing over and over again gets kinda boring (not because i illegally get music, because i get them of cds that arent in the store. visualizations might help a little)
6. When you click the middle button when viewing videos, have the timebar thing come up because i dont like having to press pause then play to see how long is left.
7. Podcast Support (video and audio). If they add this I will start one for certain. I will start more than one, one for tips and tricks (video), news (audio and video), reviews (audio and video). I will need some help though!
8. DivX support. I hate having to convert my dvds twice to get them on my Zune. It is annoying. Also make the player support more formats because it always has to convert my files to wmv or something before it syncs.
9. Some want lyrics, but I dont really care
10. Be able to use the Zune as a hard drive.
11. games (simple ones are ok)
12. be able to lower the screen brightness even more. It is really bright when it is dark (even on low), but this would also help the battery life.

Thats just an insight into my mind. I hope that the teams see some of this and if they dont already have it, maybe they will consider some of it.

Anything to add, complain about, dispute... Talk about it in our forums.
