October is always a month of surprise and fun. Every year we will travel to a new place during the National  Day holiday and the surprise is I usually get my job in October.

This year we went to the Thousand Islets (Qiandao Lake) in the provience of Chun'an. It was a nice place to relax and embrace the nature.  As interesting as to do the boat sight-seeing aroud the lake is to learn why the lake was formed. I was surprised to know it is a man-made reservoir formed during the construction of Xin'anjiang Hydropower Station in 1959.  But it looks so nature that when I cruise on it I feel like among the great ocean, only the 'golden belt' of water mark on the islets  reminded me that I was boating among the peak of the mountains and there was a drowned city deep under the lake. The water was so green and pure that it can be drunk directly, and it tasted sweet. Even the water in the hotel we stayed showed the greenish feature of the lake.  Good water holds good fishes. A famous dish you can't miss surely won't be served without fish.  Ok, the fish you must try is, as we call it, "youjiyu"(youji fish/Organic fish). Wired name, huh? I guess it's name after the environment it lives. Actually I think (so does my dad) it's a variety of PangtouYu and it  has bigger body up to over 50 cm.  Fish head broth of Youjiyu is popular and dilcious. If you have no idea on where to start with the fish head, then forget about it, because the soup is also as tasty as the fish head, like cheese creamed spicy soup. Here are some photos from this trip.

The boy was swimming in the lake and we asked him to walk or swim to thar tiny islet to see how deep was the water. He also told us a lot of story about the lake. His uncle runs an island on the lake.
