Latest update from the Manager

by: olytft

Two weekends in a row we have had a great turn out for the Sunday run around. Keep it up. Another run-a-round scheduled for 2:00pm at Nairnville Park next Sunday and hopefully the wind won’t quite be as strong as it has during the first two.

Just as a quick note, there are a few people on the Distribution List that I haven’t heard from. If you guys are not interested in receiving these regular e-mails or don’t wish to be involved in the team let me know and I’ll remove you from the list.

Season Start Dates

The season will commence on Saturday 2/4/05. Details as they come to hand but you can also check out the Capital Soccer website http://www.soccer.org.nz/

Player Registration and Contact Details

I am currently trying to finalise the team numbers and contact details. Find attached the latest team list.

Please check your detail and alter/correct where appropriate and either highlight your changes in another colour and send back or drop me an e-mail with the corrections/additions.

Make sure that you have completed the columns about availability and so on as this will reflect what people are asked to pay upfront ie the more “fulltime” players the cheaper the initial and overall cost will be.

If you wish to discuss the options and requirements please contact the Treasurer - Selwyn Bates (selwyn.bates@iag.co.nz).

Strip

Please if you have any strip (numbered Shirt, Shorts, Socks) from last season please let the Strip Manager - Patrick Geddes (patrick.geddes@parliament.govt.nz) know as soon as possible. The socks aren’t quite as important as we don’t want them back but it is nice to know what is out there.

I have our representative (Patrick Quesnal) from Nike looking into sourcing additional strip (Shirts, Shorts, Socks) in case we need some spares and for those that would like to by some for themselves.

Notices

Apologies from Christian who has injured himself and now won’t be available to play for the team prior to his departure for overseas. The same goes for the Darren though he will be back to play hopefully towards the end of this season when his injury is “repaired”.

Welcome to several of our International Representatives, Thomas and Colin from the mighty United Kingdom and of course that wanderer from the place that shan’t be named (located north of the Bombay Hills), Stuart Coats.

Also we have confirmed our Vice Captain with Andre Baldock making himself available and accepting the Brian’s Trust Nomination to fulfil this role.

Don’t forget to check the Web presence of the Olympic Club (http://www.olympicafc.org.nz/) to see how they are doing in the Hilton Petone Cup and the up coming events that they are organising.

Also the TFT’s various notices are located at http://www.blogigo.com/tfts if you want to save disk space or the new members want to catch up on the Manager’s diatribes.

First Run around for 2005

by: olytft

Hello all Yee Lads and Ladies,

Run-a-round

Our First Run Around for 2005 is still on - Sunday 27 February 2005 at 2:00pm on Nairnville Park - Top Field (near the Netball Courts).

A number of you have already let me know you will be there; I’ll bring some balls, bibs, magic water, oh and the first aid kit.

Gathering afterwards

There will be a gathering / barbeque afterwards. The wonderful Captain Saundini (Matthew Saunders) has kindly offered the use of his Cheateau for our convenience.

This will be from Sunday 27 February 2005 at 4:00pm.

171 Cockayne Rd Ngaio, Wellington

(Call Chris if you get lost 021 522 342.) Matt’s place is a five minute walk from Nairnville Park.

A barbeque is provided but you will need to bring your own refreshment and any meat you wish to cook.

Come along for a run (and/or the gathering) and if you have anyone who may be interested bring them too.

Transport

Let me know if you need transport to the run-a-round so I can put you on to someone who can help.

Last Years Strip

For those of you with strip from last season we or rather Patrick needs to know what you’ve got. So dig out your gear and confirm what gear you have from last season (shirt number, shorts, socks). A spreadsheet will be provided on Sunday or you can e-mail Patrick directly.

Data collection for Sunday

Okay so Gareth managed to “correct” my somewhat hacked and feeble attempt at a spreadsheet and some of you provided updated detail. Other than that the consensus was to proceed.

The intention is to catch as many people on Sunday as turn up and check their detail and then chase those that were not there via e-mail the next week.

This means that our Strip Manager, Captain and Treasurer are waiting on the data capture before they can proceed.

Web Site Presence

We now have a web page presence outside of the (Olympic Site) and David M has obligated to be our Web Master and to help me manage/police the Web reports to the Club (upon his return).

At this stage David M has suggested that we load up the “broadcast” e-mails and any pertinent notices so that people can be more informed. Any suggestions or comments welcome at this stage. http://www.blogigo.com/tfts

Gathering on Sunday

I have finally reached Capt. Saundini but he was busy and unable to talk. He did say he would call me back today.

Treasurer

Our wonderful Treasurer has begun chasing the outstanding amounts from the 2004 Season.

I think that’s all. Let me know if I’ve missed anything.

Sorry to trouble you guys but wanted to update you to where I’d reached after my last e-mail.

 Financial

On the Action list I have contacted the Treasurer with last year’s information and he will keep us in the loop as things get sorted through.

I will get some electronic templates and scanned documents to Gareth hopefully tonight so he can get on to assisting the Treasurer with subs and associated costing.

 Sunday’s Run-a-round

I am still trying to get a hold of Captain Saundini due to his work commitments and I will try him tonight re availability of his place for a barbeque.

In an effort to solve an number of information flow issues the Mighty Treasurer has suggested that we attempt to gather some of the necessary information at Sunday’s Run-a-round. (Affects the Strip Manager – PG, Captain – GR, Treasurer – SB, Women’s Convenor – GM and that guy who’s organising the warmups with the pompom’s)

This will cover Team List detail:

Updating contact details (Address, Phone, E-mail, Carrier-Pigeon)

Birth date from new players

Former Club (last few years) from new players

Indication of commitment (ie full or part time avilability)

Strip - who has what currently (Shirt, Shorts, Socks) – does any one want an additional strip?

Transport – required or can provide
