A bright light of day
I just spoke to someone who has a problem with the way their brain works. It's not actually their fault, they were made like that. They have a great deal of trouble understanding social systems and processes and can be terribly hurt when things dont work out. It is the sort of thing that other people dont understand or want to understand since it can cause this person to behave so out of the ordinary, a label of "crazy" or "psycho" is much easier for the world to apply.
I just realised that my friend needs help to understand the world so that she can fit into it better. To her, things always seem like they are 'her fault' or she did something wrong and people dont like her.. Now I understand why - she doesnt know any better, no-one has ever explained or asked her what is going on with her and how she sees things.. its all interesting.. I guess it's true that we fear what we dont understand and we'd rather pretend that things that are hard in life - like things we dont understand - just didnt exist.. we certainly dont want to have to face them ourselves.. we only care about right now, right here.. .. interesting..
