Virrudh brings to prime time television a clash of the titans. The story revolves around the life and dilemmas of Vasudha, a daughter torn between her father she worships, and the man she loves.

Dhirnedra Rai Singhania (Vikram Gokhle) is Vasudha’s (Smriti Irani) manipulative father. He has various business interests but his passion is the newspaper business he runs called Daink Darpan. He is a power hungry control freak. He is portrayed as a media baron who controls opinions and has political connections.

Vasudha loves her father but does not like his manipulative nature and the fact that he can go to any lengths to get his own way.He also is the head of a dysfunctional family who is against him for one reason or the other. Vasudha is portrayed as the ideal daughter who looks upto her father and also helps him run his business. She is the Indira Gandhi to his Nehru. She is respectful, sincere and dedicated to him. She is in love and wants to marry Sushant the newspapers star chief editor. There is some sort of misunderstanding between Vasudha and Sushant, which results in Vasudha leaving her father and going off to London.

Life takes a complete U turn for her and circumstances force her to come back ... she then comes back and becomes all that she never wanted to become...................Her father.

Thriller Serial: Karamchand on SET Asia

When Karamchand first came onto television back in the 80’s it made waves. Being one of India’s very first detective series it gathered a massive fan following, and went on to receive cult status.

Same old Karamchand, with an all new look is back on Sony Entertainment Television. Some of the things that contribute to the success of the serial are brilliant performances, plots that connect with the masses and the stunning characterization chalked out by the director that make detective Karamchand and his side kick Kitty both vivid and irreplaceable.

Detective Karamchand is a delightful mix of humour and logic. Unlike most other detectives, he doesn’t rely on high tech gadgets or forsenics to solve his cases. He instead looks into his cases from a different perspective and uses methods of deduction and logic. He is aided by Kitty, a glamorous but ditsy assistant. They solve the cases based on Karamchand’s quirky deductions, and sometimes a stroke of luck as well.

An interesting facet to Karamchand’s characterization is the fact that he keeps chewing carrots all the time, especially when he’s thinking… and somewhere subtly through the plots his genius is linked with the carrots, just the way Pop –eye’s strength comes from his spinach!

The talented Bollywood actor Pankaj Kapur plays Karamchand and the series is directed by the veteran filmmaker Pankuj Parashar who is director of the original series too.

The Cricket Star Academy began in Jan 2007, where the successful finalists will spend up to 11 weeks under the watchful eye of a panel of cricket legends and current Indian Test and ODI stars. The performance of the finalists will be judged on the basis of weekly cricket matches (Twenty20 Format), range of mental and physical tests, as well as a series of cricketing challenges to test their ability.

The show includes all the latest technological innovations in cricket analysis. But it won't be just about cricket: the coverage will also uncover the candidates' human sides, portraying life at the academy, the interaction between the hopefuls, and insights into their passion for the game. The final selection will be informed by millions of television viewers voting by phone or by text.
