The Journey

It was another ordinary day. School was horrible, as usual. During Social Studies, the teacher was sarcastic just because I couldn't answer some questions. I left the classroom and the principal, Mr. Jenkins sent for me during study hall. He repriminded me but I didn't really care. Well, not until he mentioned my father and asked if there was any news from him. Wasn't he concerned! I bet that he was just curious. I was furious.

After school, Charles Wallace suggested that we went to see Mrs. Whatsit. I was reluctant at first, but agreed after deciding to take Fortinbras (Our dog) along. On the way, we meet this boy, Calvin O'Keefe. In the old supposedly haunted house, we met a woman called Mrs. Who, which was one of Mrs. Whatsit's friends.

We later brought Calvin back home for dinner. He told me that he thought I was lucky and described his living conditions to me. I then realised that because I thought I was plain and had a horrible life, I did not pay attention to my family's love and care for me. After some chatting, he told me that he didn't feel alone anymore. I was quite puzzled as he was good in sports and was very popular, and he replied that people liked him for unimportant reasons. I then knew that I shouldn't judge a book my its cover and I had misjudged him from the start. I was a little surprised when the twins were excited at having Calvin for supper. I then had a walk with him and we talked to each other for a while, but in the midst of it, Charles Wallace, Mrs. Whatsit and Mrs. Who appeared. A vibrating, strange voice then cut in. Charles Wallace said that it was Mrs. Which, another one of Mrs. Whatsit's friends. Suddenly, there was darkness. There was no sound, I was alone. I tried to say something but no voice came out. I tried to move, but I couldn't feel my body, arms or limbs. Then, everything went back to normal. The only thing was, me, Charles Wallace and Calvin were in a sunlit field. Mrs. Whatsit, Who and Which then appeared.

Mrs. Whatsit then transformed into a white horse-like creature with a torso like a man's. She then carried us up to a small plateau and told us to look up. At first I did not see anything, but then I saw a shadow. It was dark and dreadful. I asked if the dark thing was what my father was fighting and Mrs. Which confirmed it. We were then taken to a planet called Orion. Mrs. Whatsit said that they had a friend there. The air in Orion was grey, there was no trace of vegetation. We entered a cavern and there was a woman inside, staring into a crystal ball. The Happy Medium showed us our own planet. There was some sort of smoky haze covering Earth, and the haze was actually the Black Thing. Mrs. Whatsit told us more about the Black Thing and I found out that it had been there for a long time. The Medium also let us see Calvin's and my mother. We tessered again and arrived at a planet called Camazotz. I didn't like the sound of that name at all.
