Dragon Boats

Hello everyone. It's me, writing the blog again. You can call me Finn in English. How are you all?

I hope you enjoyed Feifei's last post about Bank Holiday plans. As she said, she went to the seaside town of Brighton to celebrate her birthday. Once again, happy birthday to Feifei.

And what did I do? Well, mostly I relaxed and saw friends. One of my friends is a musician – a singer-songwriter who plays modern folk music, so I went to see him perform in a bar in London.

Now – my topic for today is dragon boat racing.

Last week I was invited to take part in a dragon boat race. I was quite surprised to be invited as I didn't realise dragon boat racing was popular in Britain, though I had seen it before in China. I must say, it does sound like hard work, but I would like to try it!

The Dragon Boat Festivalis only a few weeks away - so I imagine lots of teams around the world will be training very hard for races.

Report: 'World of Warcraft' fan site sold for $1 million

Posted by Daniel Terdiman 5 commentsEditor's Note: This blog originally implied that Wowhead trafficked in the secondary market for World of Warcraft gold ( WOW Gold ). But the company says it does not.

There's a lot of buzz in the World of Warcraft fan site universe this morning, with reports and rumors flying about fan sites being sold, about $1 million sale prices and even scuttlebutt about the uber company in the business of selling WOW Gold , IGE, having been sold.

According to a report from the blog, TechSoapBox, the WoW site Wowhead has been sold for $1 million.

Another blog, meanwhile, claims that, in fact, Wowhead was purchased by IGE's ex-parent Affinity Media.

Getting away for a second from the complexities of what it all means in the WoW, that's a pretty impressive number if it's true.

Whether or not Wowhead is involved in the WOW Gold business--the company says it's not--it's huge business, and it's changing...

Guiyuan Temple

Chinese Buddhist temples are never single buildings. They always consist of a group buildings following a fundamental patter, which can, however, be modified. The main buildings and their symmetrically corresponding secondary buildings form individual groups and courtyards. The entire temple complex is spacious. The buildings inside the complex are usually single-storied and the main halls are sometimes decorated with a double roof. The towers, pavilions and halls can be multi-storied structures.

The Chinese temple complex has been subject to great structural changes throughout the centuries. But temple architects follow the basic principles of secular structures from the Tang Dynasty onwards. The complexes stand on a central axis, usually a north-south axis: east-west only as an exception. (Guiyuan Temple is just the very exception.) The main buildings are strung along this central axis, their broadest sides facing south or east.

House prices rise as 2007 ends

Hilary Osborne wow gold
Guardian Unlimited,
Tuesday January 8 2008

House prices rose by 1.3% in December, following three months of falls, the UK's biggest lender said today.

Halifax said the mixed pattern of rises and falls of the past few months was consistent with a subdued market and predicted that prices would remain flat in 2008.

December's surprise price rise went some way towards reversing the falls seen in preceding months, and meant that by the end of 2007 the average cost of a property in the UK was £197,039 - £11,759 more than at the start of the year.
However, the quarterly figures, which give a better picture of long-term trends, showed the market had slowed in the final three months of the year, with prices 0.8% lower than in the summer months.

And despite the rise, the annual rate of inflation fell to 5.2%, the lowest level since 1996, and down from 6.3% in November and August's peak of 11.4%, Halifax said.

Hang In There

Difficulties arise in the lives of us all. What is most important is dealing with the hard times, coping with the changes, and getting through to the other side where the sun is still shining just for you. wow gold

It takes a strong person to deal with tough times and difficult choices. But you are a strong person.

It takes courage. But you possess the inner courage to see you through.

It takes being an active participant in your life. But you are in the driver's seat, and you can determine the direction you want tomorrow to go in. wow gold

Hang in there... and take care to see that you don't lose sight of the one thing that is constant, beautiful, and true: Everything will be fine---and it will turn out that way because of the special kind of person you are. world of warcraft gold

New fast food debuts in U.S. fairs -- fried Coke

A new fast food is making its debut at U.S. fairs this fall -- fried Coke（炒可乐）. Abel Gonzales, 36, a computer analyst from Dallas, tried about 15 different varieties before coming up with his perfect recipe -- a batter(面糊) mix made with Coca-Cola syrup（果汁）, a drizzle of strawberry syrup（草莓汁）, and some strawberries.

Balls of the batter are then deep-fried, ending up like ping-pong ball sized doughnuts（油炸面圈）which are then served in a cup, topped with Coca-Cola syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon（肉桂）sugar and a cherry on the top.

"It tastes great," said Sue Gooding, a spokeswoman for the State Fair of Texas where Gonzales' fried Coke made its debut this fall. "It was a huge success."

Gonzales ran two stands at the State Fair of Texas and sold up to 35,000 fried Cokes over 24 days for $4.50 each -- and won a prize for coming up with "most creative" new fair food.

The long journeys

Animals will make extraordinary and often mysterious expeditions to find a good meal, sexy mates, and the perfect place to raise a family. This month, billions of cicadas will burst out from their 17-year-old hiding places to complete one of the longer journeys in time, while moving only a few inches from burrow to daylight. Other migrations cover thousands of miles.

　　1、Cicadas
Billions of chubby, buzzing cicadas will surface from their underground bunkers this month to gather together, sing, and mate. The insects will have spent 17 years fattening up underground, growing through five stages of development. Their synchronized appearance overwhelms predators, leaving most of the reveling cicadas carefree to party for their five weeks of adult life.
　　2、Lemmings
In the Arctic tundra, over-population and a scarcity of food sends lemmings on mass migrations at high speeds. Researchers clocked one trek of the petite mammals at almost 10 miles a day....

A Noncommittal Attitude

Nothing hurts more than a noncommittal attitude.
'cause I can't find any traces of love.
Don't know when to go further,
and when to let go.
I can't even bring myself to open my arms.
I have to stop here.
After all nothing can go
Beyond a friendship
yet short of a true love.
Rain clouds loom ahead in the distance
I wonder if I am going to cry.
Who is too sentimental, you or me?
I am not convinced,
and start to doubt
whether the man before my eyes
is the true self you used to be?

A Smile Saved A Life.

[provide by:金信 翻译公司 / 翻译 / wow gold ]
"I was sure that I was to be killed. I became terribly nervous. I fumbled[1] in my pockets to see if there were any cigarettes, which had escaped[2]their search. I found one and because of my shaking hands, I could barely get it to my lips. But I had no matches, they had taken those. "I looked through the bars at my jailer. He did not make eye contact with me. I called out to him 'Have you got a light?' He looked at me, shrugged [3]and came over to light my cigarette. "As he came close and lit the match, his eyes inadvertently locked with mine. At that moment, I smiled. I don't know why I did that. Perhaps it was nervousness, perhaps it was because, when you get very close, one to another, it is very hard not to smile. In any case, I smiled. In that instant, it was as though a spark jumped across the gap between our two hearts, our two human souls. I know he didn't want to, but my smile leaped through the bars...

If I could catch a rainbow

[Provide by: 金信 翻译公司 / 翻译 / wow gold ]

I would do it just for you
　　And share with its beauty
On the days you’re feeling blue.
If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own
　　A place to find serenity
　　A place to be alone.
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them into the sea
But all these things I’m finding
　　Are impossible for me.
　　I cannot build a mountain
　　Or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be what I know best
　　A friend that’s always there.
