Sense means ‘A capacity to
appreciate or understand’. This capacity is developed by education in a man because
only then he would be able to appreciate the beauties of the nature, which
surrounds man in the form of shady trees, singing birds, slow and calm flow of
river and a night full of stars. As Catlin Matthews said;
‘Keep your sense of proportion by regularly,
preferably daily,
visiting the natural
world.’
But unfortunately , today’s
man is so busy in his everyday routine life , which is full of problems and
worries that he has no time to stand and stare at the bounty of nature. As
William Davies said;
No
time to see, when woods we pass, where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No
time to see, in broad daylight, streams full of stars, like skies at night.
William Davies called such
life, ‘a poor life’ because in this scientific age, man is getting more
frustrated and more irritated. Nature provides a man that refuge in which he
can feel free and away from all worldly worries. For instance through the
medium of poetry, man realizes the significance of the nature and if we want to
acquaint our coming generations with nature then we should give more attention
on this sector as we see in boarding school.
Similarly, man has been
gifted by the reason and with the power to create but instead of creating
beauty for him, he is ruthlessly destroying the nature as forests keep
disappearing, rivers dry up, wild life's become extinct, the climate is ruined
and the land grows poorer and uglier every day. In short, through schools like private
schools, we can spread this awareness in the children to save nature as it is a
gift of the God for a man.
