100 Fort Worth Contractors & Code Officials Attend Workshop on Fiber Glass Duct Board Fabrication

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tarrant County Colleges Department of Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology (HART) recently hosted a Fiber Glass Duct Construct Workshop, a hands-on fiber glass duct fabrication training session targeting local HVAC contractors, installers and building inspectors. Nearly 100 working professionals attended the two, 4-hour workshops that emphasized the basics of good craftsmanship, the performance criteria needed to meet the building codes, proper closure systems, UL ratings, equipment connections and more. The workshops were conducted by the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA).

Jeff Rector, a HART instructor at the college, organized the two-day session. I was very pleased with the turnout, stated Mr. Rector. This was an extremely valuable course. Proper duct insulation installation is important, and it is equally important for the local installers to understand its benefits and for the code inspectors to learn what to look for, he added. This kind of workshop was perfect for the working professionals. It provided a short overview and then turned into an extensive fabrication session that showcased the proper tools, tapes, mastic and the construction of fittings that are typically used in this area, he continued.

Mr. Tommy Jackson and Mr. Pete Hayes, NAIMA trainers with more than 70 years of combined fiber glass duct board installation and fabrication experience, conducted the informative and often entertaining seminars. All attendees received a certificate of completion and copy of NAIMAs Fibrous Glass Duct Board Standards manual.

About the NAIMA Duct Board Fabrication Training Program

Duct Construct is part ofNAIMAs Fiber Glass - Joliet IL - Duct Board Training Program. The objective of NAIMAs training is to build a population of properly trained duct board installers by offering these and other programs to schools so that fiber glass duct construction can become a basic building block for completion of any HVAC technician course.

Like Tarrant County Community College, NAIMA training partnership programs are currently in place at over 55 technical colleges and institutes across the nation. More than 4100 students and technicians have participated in the training. Improving the installation skills of installers is an important part of the manufacturers product stewardship commitment, said George Phelps, Vice President, Government and Industry Affairs at NAIMA.
