The Mystery of the Nazca Drawings

by: canyougetme   Keywords: mysteries

In the Nazca desert, on a 450 square kilometers surface, we find one of the biggest mysteries of humanity: gigantic drawings on the ground that depict animals (spiders, monkeys, fish, etc.), plants, geometric figures and imaginary beings. All of this can only be seen from great heights. The drawings were created sometime in between 500 BC and 500 AD, during the reign of an ancient civilization, Nazca. The drawings were created by removing pebbles that covered the ground. Dozens of scientists have tried to discover the meaning and utility of the drawings, all to no avail.

Some say that these perfect lines were created by extraterrestrial beings, and this has fueled the imagination of UFO lovers everywhere. Supposedly, these drawings were used by them to land on the ground. Joe Nickell, a researcher from the Kentucky University, managed to replicate the drawings using only techologies that existed 2,000 years ago, without getting directions from air. Another hypothesis, that of an astronomic calendar, was also dismissed. Experts Gerald Hawkins and Anthony Aveni have conducted separate studies on celestial events that have taken place in that period and concluded that there is no evident proof to support that claim. The theory upon which most experts agree is that the drawings were created with religious intent. Nazca would have used them for religious ceremonies and to be seen by the gods in the sky. The biggest drawing has a length of 270 meters, and the most popular drawing is named "The Astronaut".

Google, Microsoft and Coca Cola

These 3 are the most valuable brands. Their values have not been affected by the economical recession. Google, Microsoft and Coca Cola are the most valuable brands, according to a top 100 of brands made at an international level by Daedalus Millward Brown.

According to this top, the total values of the first 100 brands is 1.95 trillion dollars, a 1.7% from last year's value.

Analysts agree that companies that keep investing into their brands will be in a far more favorable position when the economical situation gets better than companies which now cut costs.  Google, which is at number one, has a brand valued at 100 billion dollars, while Microsoft, second place, has a brand value of 76.2 billion dollars. For Coca Cola, getting into the top 3 is a first, with a brand value of 67.6 billion dollars.
