Supply chain management is keeping track of products from raw materials to the point when the finished goods reach the customer, including planning and forecasting; purchasing; product assembly; moving; and storage. The Supply Chain Management specialization provides students with tools to function within a variety of environments including the transportation industry and global supply chains. This module builds upon knowledge gained at level 4 about the business environment and about the general management functions operating within organisations and develops an understanding of the international context of dealing with people issues in organisations.

It will open opportunities in utility management for various industrial sectors such as fertilizers, refinery, paper and pulp, cement, rubber, pharmaceutical, chemical, textile, gas and oil companies and various energy intensive industries utilising fuel and electricity.

Students with strong quantitative and computing skills and an array of multi-cultural and entrepreneurship experiences will become valued supply chain management professionals. The chain of suppliers and vendors to these reporting companies will be expected to provide appropriate supporting information. Students learn to develop effective decision-making and problem-solving skills at the strategic, tactical and operational levels to manage supply chain assets and the flows of products and information through the supply chain.
