What software can I use to convert AVI video to a format I can use with iMovie?

So i think you can try iSkysoft Video Converter for Mac, which is easy to use, you can free download here:

Step 1: Download and run the Converter
(avi to flv) (avi to swf) (flv to divx) (mkv to lash) (rm to flash) (capture youtube)

For more tips, i mostly use flv downloader to capture youtube and convert flv to divx for dvd burn, otherwise ,you need to convert rm to flash, mkv to flash, avi to swf,avi to flv for more sharing:) Step 2: Add Video files
Click the "Add Files" button to add video files to the program by automatically selecting an appropriate encoder for the video files you want to convert.
Step 3: Output Settings
Choose the output format from the format drop list.
Step 4: Click the “Convert” button to start conversion
Hope this helpful to you.
