Avi Chai announced his genius grants, but there is overlap between the fellows?
The Avi Chai Foundation has announced its second round of Avi Chai Fellows, who last year, it billed as essentially a Jewish MacArthur grant.
The grants, which are $ 225,000 over three years, are designed to stimulate innovation by investing in people, as opposed to programming.
This year, Avi Chai gave grants to Dr. Erica Brown, David Cygielman, Aliza Kline, Daniel Libenson, Rabbi Rachel Nussbaum.
Following are excerpts from their bios and what they intend to do with their new currency:

Dr. Erica Brown is the director of adult education in the Partnership for Jewish life and learning and the Scholar-in-Residence of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington. Erica plans to use her scholarship, partly for his own professional development and its plans to develop a curriculum Jewish values for journalists and media opinion.
Cygielman David is the founder and executive director of Moishe House, which now, with 25 houses in nine countries, serves as a hub for young adults in the Jewish community by focusing on ages 21-30. David plans to use the grant to improve houses and, finally, Moishe double their number. He intends to visit all the Moishe House, build relationships with residents and their communities, and provide appropriate training and support.

Aliza Kline is the founding Executive Director of Mayyim Hayyim Living Waters and Community Mikveh Paula Brody & Family Education Center in Newton, Massachusetts. Aliza plans to use its grant to strengthen the organizational capacity of Mayyim Hayyim, thus devote more of its resources to reach communities across North America interested in this unique approach to the ritual immersion and education .flv to divx
Daniel Libenson was executive director of the Newberger Hillel Center at the University of Chicago since 2006. In Chicago, he created the "Jethro Initiative, an effort to redesign and reimagine Hillel as an institution capable of delivering on its vision of inspiration all Jewish students to make a lasting commitment to Jewish life." Daniel intends to use the AVI CHAI Fellowship launched the creation of a Jewish center for ideas and innovation, based on the power of the university to the Jewish people.
