If you have a card reader on your PC or laptop, just put your SD card in there and go to the folder where the .avi files are stored then just drag and drop them on to your PC. If you don't have a card reader then just hook up your camera to your PC and go through the same procedure.

I like drop box because it makes a normal looking folder that you can drop files into like a regular folder and they upload while you do other stuff. I'm afraid there's absolutely no way you can shrink a DVD (.vob format) file to .avi without losing quality.
Think about it. You start with a file that's up to 4.7GB (for single layer DVDs) or up to 8.5GB (for dual/double layer DVDs) and then you compress it down to something like 700MB. The quality's got to suffer. How could it realistically maintain the quality?

Hi! It actually depends on the dvd player you tv has, what format it supports... Most support avi, such you may directly burn the data to dvd and watch it on tv....

You need a program to convert it. I use WinAVI (winavi.com). Once you convert it, then just burn the video_ts folder that it created. If you have Roxio 7.0+ then you can use the disc copier to burn it. Otherwise just create a data CD and drag the entire Video_TS folder to your project.
You may take a look at this step by step guide, it will teach you how to convert and burn AVI video to DVD. I followed it and successfully burned DVD to play on my home DVD player, it's easy to understand, I think it deserves a try.
