The best way to get started with a DS business is to realize that the most important aspect of starting a DS business is to pick the right type of back-end provider. If you are doing business in multiple states you will want choose a provider that can handle both the green states and the red states. Remember that red states are the attorney states and green states are the non-attorney states. Some back-end providers only handle green states because green states do not need attorneys and are easier to set up the offering of DS services.

So step 1, you will want to pick a provider that has an attorney network so that you will have coverage in red states. Secondly, you want to interview the provider with a list of questions about how they run their business and what processes do they follow that protect your clients from paying for services but not receiving any results. I use a worksheet with 13 carefully selected questions that I use when talking with the sales rep from a back-end debt settlement company.

Your third step is to review your notes on the three or four back-end providers you talked with and sign up with the one that makes the most sense for you and your business needs.
