MEL GIBSON AND G. W. BUSH, BROTHERS IN CRIME
Why all the attention on Mel Gibson’s DUI incident? G. W. Bush was arrested for DUI and placed in jail--a crime he lied about for years. Not only that, Bush was arrested two more times for assault and theft. Bush is the first president to have been arrested three times, placed in jail, and be an avid drug user -- marijuana and cocaine for nearly 20 years-- and yet no outcry from the public. Not to mention that Bush went AWOL from the National Guard.

Bush is the most flawed president in American history. Bush is also a pathological liar. Bush distorted intel on Iraq to bolster his case for his attack on Iraq, which to date has claimed nearly 2600 Americans and over 100,000 Iraqi women and children. (Bush has yet to attend one American soldier’s funeral.) He claims he wants to close Guantanamo Bay, yet adds more prisoners. Bush stated he did not know that Katrina would break the levees in New Orleans and yet was warned days before its landing. We could go on and on, but you get the picture.

So the next time you condemn someone for lying, drug usage, or crimes, look at the role model at our helm and ask yourself, did you vote for this inept, criminal?

WHITE HOUSE INVITES A TERRORIST
I found it ironic that G. W. Bush and Condi Rice condemn Hezbollah for its terrorists tactics and exclaim that the U.S. does not negotiate with or aid terrorists, and yet in June, 2006, one of the leading terrorists in the former Yugoslavia, Agim Ceku, the self-styled Prime Minister of Kosovo, was invited to Washington for talks with Rice.

Ceku, who was indicted by Serbia in 2002 for war crimes, is charged for the murders by KLA terrorists of 669 Serbs, 518 counts of inflicting grave bodily harm and torture, and 584 counts of kidnapping, of which most are presumed dead. Plus, with the end of hostilities between Serb forces and NATO, Ceku was charged with persisting to murder Serbs, forcing two-thirds of them from the province of Kosovo.

Bush and his administration, including Condi Rice, must walk the talk and be consistent in their criticisms of terrorists. By making exceptions, as in the greeting and support of Ceku and an independent Muslim, terrorist state, Kosovo, in Europe, Bush and company illustrate the hypocrisy of their “war on terror.”

THE HISTORY OF PALESTINE 101
With the current attacks by both Israel and Hezbollah, one needs to understand the history of the lands before spouting hatred towards either the Arabs or the Jews. Israel was founded upon bloodshed. The Jews, through God’s blessings, conquered the land in 1250 BC. Then from 587 BC to 1946 AD, Israel was ruled by a series of empires of the time in the following order: Babylonian, Persian, Greek Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Empires, Islamic and Christian crusaders, Ottoman Empire, and the British Empire.


After World War I, Jews comprised only 11 per cent of the total population in Palestine. Then with the establishment of the state of Israel, Jews began to immigrate to the lands in large numbers, outnumbering the existing Arab settlers.

The world agreed the Jews needed a home after the Nazi holocaust, but the Arabs were upset. To give one a parallel, this would be like giving one third of the United States back to the American Indians who originally settled the lands, but then were exterminated brutally by the British and the Americans. Nearly 95 per cent of the American Indians were murdered by the “white men” (over 12 million Indians-- far more than the Jews) and over 375 treaties with the Indians were broken by the Americans. Would the citizens of the United States be upset if the lands were given back to their true owners? Of course!

Before one reacts negatively toward the Jews and/or the Arabs, take into account the above facts. Then decide how you would react.

THE UNINFORMED AMERICAN PUBLIC

LETTER TO THE EDITOR APPEARING IN THE ORLANDO SENTINEL ON 07/03/06:

Every day I hear people on the radio or television bashing President Bush, blaming him for the war in Iraq. Why do all these people think George W. Bush started this war? Have they already forgotten? Or are they really that oblivious?

Bill Clinton ordered the release of many of these terrorists from prison, then didn't apply security measures to keep them from receiving flight training at our military bases. These very same terrorists hijacked and flew our commercial airliners into heavily populated buildings, killing thousands of American citizens on our own soil.


They came here and started the war with the intention of exterminating all of us. They got off to a good start, too. But, fortunately, our president has the sense to move the bloodshed away from our citizens.

If Bush hadn't taken the initiative to move the war off our soil, many of us would be dying in the streets every day at the hands of the terrorists. I prefer that it's going on overseas rather than right here around our hospitals and schools and all the places where we like to feel our loved ones are safe.

If you're alive to read this, you can thank Bush for chasing the terrorists off and keeping them away. You can say what you want to about the man, but he's not a warmonger. He's protecting your life and mine.

MY RESPONSE:

It annoys me that reader, Paul Westman, would write the Sentinel with so many naïve accusations and falsehoods about Bush’s War in Iraq and the terrorists.

First, contrary to this writer’s falsehoods, none of the 9/11 hijackers received flight instructions at an American military base. Secondly, former president Clinton did not release “many of these terrorists from prison.” None of 9/11 hijackers were ever in American prisons. However, at least seven terrorist detainees released under the Bush administration from Gitmo have committed more terrorists actions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Finally, the Clinton administration briefed the Bush administration in January, 2001, including then National Security Director Rice, on Bin Landen and the al Qaeda threat, which the Bush administration ignored. Also overlooked by the Bush Administration was the secret briefing in August, 2001: “Bin Laden determined to strike the U.S.” Disregarding the briefing, Bush did nothing to strengthen airline security.

Iraq, prior to Bush’s illegal invasion, had no ties to al Qaeda as proven by numerous CIA and congressional investigations. Al Qaeda only entered Iraq after the U.S. invasion. Bush invaded Iraq on the erroneous charge of weapons-of-mass-destruction and then failed to plan for post war chaos and insurgency in Iraq.

This reader, like some others, needs to study the facts before spouting falsehoods. As Einstein exclaimed, “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

DOUBLE STANDARD FOR LEAKS

G.W. Bush and Cheney harshly condemned the revelation of a program to secretly monitor the financial transactions of suspected terrorists. Both specifically condemned the New York Times, as “disgraceful,” ignoring The Wall Street Journal (a conservative propagandist for the administration) and LA Times, which also published the story.

Where was Bush’s condemnation for the exposing of a CIA agent, Wilson's wife, Valeria Plame, by his administration? Robert Novak, the reporter whom the Bush administration supplied with the classified intel on Plame, acknowledged that Bush knows who leaked the CIA's agents identity. Vice President Cheney, former White House aide Libby, and White House counsel Rove were all involved, yet NO outrage from Bush. Why???????

Plus, Bush and his staff selectively leaked out classified intel on Iraq's supposedly secret weapons of mass destruction prior to the Iraq war to various newspapers, including The New York Times, to influence public opinion; yet no Justice Department official investigated these outrageous propaganda leaks. Why was it appropriate for Bush and his staff to leak classified intel to sway the hesitant public into supporting an illegal war?

Bush is a hypocrite who will use any means, illegal, lying, or immoral to accomplish his hidden agenda.
