America has become a country of irresponsibility and excuses. Americans arrested on crimes use excuses, ranging from anxiety to being bipolar, to evade responsibility in crimes committed, while their friends and family always state that they are a good parent or person.
Two years ago, runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks claimed that high anxiety with her upcoming wedding caused her to fabricate an elaborate tale of cross country kidnapping, resulting in thousands of taxpayers dollars wasted on a wild goose chase.
Houston's Andrea Yates, in 2004, gruesomely murdered her 5 children, including , a 6 month old baby. Yates claims depression resulting from a hormonal change caused her to savagely murder her 5 children. Family and friends claim she was a “good mother.” The children if alive today would think otherwise.
Tampa teacher, Debra Lafave, who molested a 14 year-old boy repeatedly, claimed bipolar disorder caused her to become a sex offender. Most psychologists dispute her allegations, and there is no evidence to support her inventive claim.
Now, Lisa Nowak went from being a married astronaut to a “space cadet.” Nowak stalked Colleen Shipman for months, assaulted, then attempted to kidnap her, with the possibility of murder. Family, friends, and NASA claim that she is a “good mother.” Does a good mother abandon her children, commit adultery and violence, and plan a murder?
