BUSH AND HIS NEOCONS HAVE DONE LASTING DAMAGE TO AMERICA'S IMAGE ABROAD
Brent Scowcroft, national security adviser to two Republican presidents, admits in a recent op-ed on Iraq, "We are being wrestled to a draw by opponents who are not even an organized state adversary."
The attack and catastrophic occupation of Iraq and the botched military operation in Afghanistan have lessened the credibility of the United States. The scandals at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and Guantanamo in Cuba, along with the exposed murders of Iraqi civilians in Haditha, have stained America's moral self-image.
J. Patterson, principal deputy, under secretary of Defense/Comptroller simplistic, naïve argument that America faced a threat from Iraq is totally baseless. Numerous studies by the DOD, Congress, CIA, and others illustrated that Iraq pose no threat nor had ties to al Qaeda prior to our invasion. Matter of fact, according to numerous National Intelligence Estimates, our invasion
George Bush and his fellow neo-cons have done more damage to America’s image abroad then any other administration.
