OBAMA CANNOT LEAD

Barack Obama has illustrated that he cannot choose wisely. There were numerous black churches in Chicago--radical, conservative, liberal, and moderate. He chose to become a member of a radical church, Trinity United Church of Christ, that preaches anti-American propaganda and racial slurs.

Obama’s most trusted advisor and minister, Jeremiah Wright, has preached anti-American sermons, yet Obama states that he was unaware of these even though sources place him there and claim he purchased tapes of some of these sermons. In a sermon after the 9/11 terrorist attack, Wright implied that America deserved the attacks.

Wright published his take on Jesus’ crucifixion in Trumpet magazine in 2007, which Obama reads. He labeled Jesus’ crucifixion as "a public lynching Italian style" executed in "Apartheid Rome."

Wright asserts that white supremacists control America: "The government runs everything from the White House to the schoolhouse, from the Capitol to the Klan, white supremacy is clearly in charge….”

Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ 2007 bulletins include comments that South Africa and Israel created "an ethnic bomb that kills blacks and Arabs."

Obama stated on the View: "Had the reverend not retired and …acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate…I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying there at the church." Obama has acknowledged that for over a year he knew that Wright and his church had proclaimed racial slurs and anti-American rhetoric, yet Obama did nothing.

Obama tried to cover up Wright’s and his Church’s radicalism, never objecting until an overwhelming majority of Americans condemned it.

OBAMA, MR CONTROVERSY

Barack Obama stated on 11/09/07, "I want to campaign the same way I govern, which is to respond directly and forcefully with the truth." Then why hasn’t Obama been honest with the American electorate?

Obama’s most trusted advisor and minister has preached many anti-American sermons, yet Obama states that he was unaware of these even though sources state he was present at the sermons. In a sermon after the 9/11terrorist, Wright implied that America deserved the attacks. In another, Wright proclaimed, "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God d--- America….”

Next, Obama’s top, economic policy advisor met with a Canadian embassy official and informed him that Obama is not for opting out of NAFTA as he has been stating throughout America: "…when Senator Obama talks about opting out of the free trade deal, the Canadian government shouldn't worry. The operative said it was just campaign rhetoric not to be taken seriously."

One now must consider whether everything Obama is churning out is just campaign rhetoric to win votes or is it his true beliefs.

Controversy consistently engulfs the Obama campaign. Barack Obama’s wife, recently told a Milwaukee crowd, “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.” Was not the self-centered Mrs. Obama (who was an adult at the time) proud of her country when the Berlin Wall came tumbling down, when America and her allies won the First Gulf War, and finally when we all came together as one (I guess except for the Obamas) immediately in the aftermath of 9/11?

America is facing some serious problems, ranging from Bush’s Iraq war to an economic slow down to the largest deficit in history. Americans can little afford a possible president and first lady that are not honest with its people, pro-America, and does not take pride in its country.

Poor health doesn't indicate poor president

Poor health doesn't indicate poor president

Christian Gatsby - Philadelphia

USA TODAY states that presidential candidates should disclose all their personal data, such as medical records ("Candidates withhold data; it's time to get it all out," Our view, Full disclosure debate, March 11).

USA TODAY's editorial states: "Some of this data, such as tax and medical records, customarily emerge once the major party nominees are selected. But with important choices having already been made in the Republican Party, and an important one still to come in the Democratic race, it's time for full disclosure."

Does USA TODAY's editorial board believe that if someone has a health problem, then it makes that person unfit to hold office?

Unbeknownst to many Americans, several presidents have been ill. This did not stop them from governing efficiently:

* Some of America's earliest leaders — George Washington, Andrew Jackson and Zachary Taylor — contacted numerous diseases, including dysentery, malaria and what could have been cholera or typhoid fever.

* Abraham Lincoln suffered bouts of depression, but he succeeded in keeping the Union together and in addressing the issue of slavery through the Civil War.

* Franklin D. Roosevelt contracted polio in 1921 and was confined to metal braces and a wheelchair.

Did his physical handicap make him unfit to be president? FDR is considered by many historians as an exceptional president.

American voters should be more concerned about a candidate's solutions, character and morality than his or her health.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot"

The Vatican under Pope Benedict has recently added some sins for the faithful to be aware of. The sins include "genetic manipulation" (i.e., human cloning and stem-cell research that terminates embryos) and "ecological offenses" against Earth.

Pope Benedict has emphatically embraced environmental protection, stressing that continued climate changes could destroy the human race.

Yes, Earth is experiencing rapid climate and environmental changes by the acts of man: The Arctic ice caps, which reflect some of the sun's rays and limit heating of the oceans, are shrinking at an alarming rate; glaciers are melting; one-fourth of the Amazon rain forest has been lost to deforestation; and animal species are appearing on the endangered list at a troubling rate, as their ecosystems are destroyed by industrialization.

Years ago, when I was a student, I ran a recycling operation at my high school for paper and glass, receiving three presidential awards for my efforts. Profits were used to better the community. I knew back then that people were indifferent about the environment, but I tried to enlightened them to what may happen if all abused this beautiful planet. Now time is running out, and the Earth is dying. Man, sometimes a selfish animal, takes his green planet for granted, destroying the environment and wildlife with little regard for the long-term, negative impact that results.

I agree with Pope Benedict. Until man becomes less selfish, less wasteful and more environmentally conscious, the Earth will die. To quote Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax," a story about deforestation: "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better - it's not."

OBAMA "THE WEAK"

America needs a President/Commander-in-chief that is intelligent, responsible, honest, and moral. Barack Obama has shown that he is inept in these areas.

Obama boasts in numerous speeches that he has always be against Bush’s Iraq War. Obama claims that if he would be the next Commander-in-chief, things would be different.

For someone who bases his entire campaign on his non-support of Bush’s Iraq War, then why was Obama, the only Senator, dreadfully late when General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker appeared on Capitol Hill for the second day of questioning on Bush’s Iraq War?

Obama voted against a troop withdrawals proposal in 2006. Obama advocated reduced troop levels only after he entered the presidential contest because polls illustrated a majority of voters’ support.

Next, Obama’s top economic advisor met with a Canadian embassy official in Chicago and told him that his boss is not for opting out of NAFTA as he has been stating: "…when Senator Obama talks about opting out of the free trade deal, the Canadian government shouldn't worry…it was just campaign rhetoric not to be taken seriously."

As a potential leader of America, we watched Obama’s reaction to the above situation. First Obama tried to state that the meeting did not occur; then he tried to spin the events of the meeting. As a potential president, Obama should have first been honest to Americans about the meeting, and secondly fired his economic advisor for insubordination if indeed Obama is telling the truth that his advisor met inappropriately with the Canadian. However, Obama did nothing, an illustration of his inept leadership.

America needs a strong, decisive, responsible president. Obama has shown that he lacks these attributes.

BARACK OBAMA AND THE "T" WORD

Barack Obama stated on 11/09/07, "I want to campaign the same way I govern, which is to respond directly and forcefully with the truth." Then why hasn’t Obama been honest with the American electorate?

Recently, Obama’s economic policy advisor met with a Canadian embassy official in Illinois and informed him that Obama is not for opting out of NAFTA as he has been stating for months throughout America: "…when Senator Obama talks about opting out of the free trade deal, the Canadian government shouldn't worry. The operative said it was just campaign rhetoric not to be taken seriously."

One now must consider whether everything Obama is churning out is just campaign rhetoric to win votes or is it his true beliefs. Americans can little afford another dishonest, immoral President.
