BUSH NEEDS TO WALK THE TALK
Bush stated he "makes no distinction between those who commit acts of terror and those who support and harbor them." He has repeated this rhetoric thousands of times, including recently in Indianapolis: “one of the lessons learned after September the 11th is that we must hold people to account for harboring terrorists. If you harbor a terrorist, if you feed a terrorist, if you house a terrorist, you’re as equally guilty as the terrorist.”
However, this is just hot air from the weak Bush. Pakistan has allowed a safe refuge for al Qaeda, enabling it to attain its strongest level since 9/11, according to a National Intelligence Estimate. The new NIE affirms that al Qaeda "has protected or regenerated key elements of its Homeland attack capability" by reestablishing a haven in Pakistan.
The CIA and military has had numerous planned missions to capture and/or kill al Qaeda leaders only to be scrubbed at the last minute by Bush. In 2005, Bush cancelled a US mission to capture al Qaeda terrorists leaders out of fears the endeavor would hurt relations with Pakistan.
Bush needs to walk the talk. He needs to take a lesson from Teddy Roosevelt and speak softly and carry a big stick. Bush has wasted precious time, resources, and numerous lives to no avail. Bush needs to assert his doctrine and attack the al Qaeda sanctuary in Pakistan with or without the consent of the Pakistani president.
