'Ol Santa squeezes under the January Wire!

Mood: Half stressed - half balanced?
Listening to: The guinea pigs drinking water from their water bottle.

Good afternoon, everyone!

Ho-ho-ho!  How is everyone?  'Ol Santa trusts everyone is doing well, and enjoying their new year.  Well, he knows for some of you, that the new year may be bringing some troubles.  I'll admit, it sure is bringing me some trouble.

Dasher punctured his eye.  We've been working with his eye since last Wednesday.  The vet has had to come over twice.  His pupil was pinched in the center, and it wasn't dilating.  The vet came last Friday.  Saturday his pupil was dilated, but his eye was till swollen and red.  Sunday, his eye swelled worse, despite ointments we were putting in his eye three times a day.  The vet had to return yesterday.  He said the cellular layer had grown over the puncture, so the medicine couldn't get to it to heal it.  So, he had to re-scratch (urgh!) his eye, so the medicine could get to it. And now, we have to put one of the ointments in twice a day, and liquid drops in twice a day.  We have to alternate between the two, four times a day.

Makes for a long day.  He's easy to work on, but he does really squench his eye.  I'm sure it's very sore - the pore dear.  I really feel for him.

Mrs. Claus, is slowing losing one of her dogs.  The dog is 16 years old.  She turned 16 on Christmas Eve, of all the precious days!  She's been hanging tough for three weeks now.  She does have moments of pain, but she is still eating, barely, and still drinking water, and using the bathroom.  We called the vet this morning after a particularly rough night last night.  We weren't sure if it was time to help her cross on over to the spirit world, as that is not a light decision to make.  The vet said, with us questioning that, and with so many things she could still do, then it wasn't time - and we would know for sure.  So, Mrs. Claus has been very busy, tending to the little dog.  Keep her in your prayers, as she grows weary, as the little dog, wants her attention and comfort.

Oh, and Prancer developed a fungus in one of his hooves!  We're having to treat that with formalahyde. (sp?)  We're having to do that twice a week.

Other than these incidents, the remainder of the animals, Mrs. Claus, the elves and myself, are doing okay.  We're a bit stressed with all the animal problems, but we're just trying to take it one day, and one blessing - (we have to search for those daily), at a time.  Those blessings we search for, and so easily find, help us to maintain our balance.

We un-expectedly have not gotten that much snow for January.  But the weather man is calling for it to make up its for its absence in February.  Guess we'll celebrate a snowy Valentine's!

Any of you struggling with New Year resolutions?  Here's a trick 'Ol Santa learned many a year ago - use affirmations.  They really work.  But you have to persist with them, often and for a good while.  Keep telling yourself, that you are the goal you are trying to achieve - it helps to create the path that will lead you to success.

We'll, 'Ol Santa will close for now!  Hope you all are still enjoying the gifts I brought you!

I'll try my best to blog again on Valentine's Day in February!

Happiest of All Days,
Santa Claus
