September News 2007

This news post is being done a day early due to the events being held over the extended weekend leading into September.

As been discussed in the prior month, the concern of development seemed to be the largest topic of the community. Again, I assure to you that further development of ROSE is happening.

Consider the following as an insight to development, or "developer's notes":

World Drop System -
The second revision of the world drop system is nearly completed. We are hoping that the additions and changes to this drop system will provide more longevity to game play. The changes and additions made to the world drop system will help with the current availability of gems. Also the level of equipment should now be dropping for the appropriate level in many areas.

Player Equipment -
As some of you may be aware, certain equipment does not scale in the same rate as others and level requirements for others are incorrect. Various weapons are missing their original and intended level requirements for use. Various Armors did not have the appropriate defenses applied as well as some sets are missing level requirements as well. We will be working to correct these various armors and weapons to help restore the balance of growth to classes and game play. Additionally, as a means to help balance each class, the defensive qualities of certain armors readjusted.

Class Skills -
Some class skills will be modified by skill effect and power to further adjust the balance between classes.
You will likely see that the effects of some skills may now only succeed by a percentage chance, instead of a 100% chance.
Cool down timers for these skills will also be adjusted to help increase the speed of combat and strategies.

Bugs -
Various minor bugs are going to be adjusted and fixed where possible, such as skill descriptions being incorrect or effects not working properly. Changing skills or items that have identical names so they may be easily recognized. Updating some icons to match appropriately to their names (For example: the 1st Grade Bindrune displays an incorrect icon for it causing confusion between higher level Bindrunes).

Overall game balancing is our goal. We have spotted some problem areas in how damage and chance to hit is resolved and wish to correct these functions so that they are fair to the attributes of the player based on the equipment collected. Also what we wish to do over the course of time is help classes shift away from one another so that each class will have their own strengths and weaknesses.

We will be looking to providing events for the community non-pvp based while the development works closely with us towards these goals. I believe that through our efforts through the month of September we will have a substantial change for ROSE coming. Feel free to ask questions, I'll do my best to answer what I can. Remember, there's a lot that is still in the planning stages, so asking for specific changes will not be available. For the question, I'm sure many of you will want to know, "When will this update take place?" that has not yet been determined as we're still in the process of planning, making adjustments and testing. Of course we wish to provide these changes as quickly as possible, however the priority is on making sure the updates are done perfectly. Last thing I think we all want is a messy update that brings more bugs.

Ziet er goed uit naar mijn mening. :)
