Job Description: Provide design direction, develop and test database changes, using Sybase ASE and MS Sql Server.
Develop batch programs using UNIX cron or Autosys. Should have good exposure to UNIX Shell Scripting, C and Perl.
Give direction to other developers on database tasks.
Participate in requirements gathering, documentation and project planning for systems enhancement projects.
Perform upgrades to the database environment, as needed, such as migrating to new hardware or vendor upgrades.
Monitor production batch cycles, and troubleshoot and resolve any data issues. Escalate system problems as necessary.
Serve as database support contact to systems team, portfolio managers, traders, investment operations and research professionals.
Interact with other systems partners in Boston, London, Hong Kong and India.
Participate in strategy discussions for improving our systems to best serve the needs of Investment
8+ years of development experience, at least 5 working with databases such as Sybase, Oracle, MS SQL Server
Strong technical understanding of database systems design
Strong problem solving and communication skills (written and verbal) in English
Well organised with good attention to detail
Service oriented, experienced in taking initiative to communicate with customers
Flexible team player with a willingness to perform support tasks as well as development tasks
Prior exposure to supporting an Investment Management or financial environment and market data vendors
Prior exposure to supporting/administering Sybase Replication Server.
Front-end programming, business analysis, and project management experience
