How to Prepare Earrings for Shipping
Shipping anything today is a task in itself. From vases to Tiffany Earrings, precautions need to be taken for every shipment to assure the item arrives at it's destination safely. Preparing a pair of Tiffany Earrings is not as simple as dropping them in an envelope and this article will tell you how to prepare them for safe shipping. When you are finished with this article, you can rest assured that your package will arrive safely at it's destination.
Things You’ll Need:
- Pair of Earrings
- 1-6x9 inch manila envelope with clasp
- Bubble wrap or foam packing sheets
- Tape
Step1
Gather all the materials needed. You will not be able to use foam peanuts so you will need either the bubble wrap or the foam sheeting sometimes used for packing electronics.
Step2
Lay the Tiffany Earrings out with backs together. If they are pierced earrings with posts, make sure the posts are covered by each others back or the dangling part of the earring if there is one. Sometimes it is a good idea to lay the earrings top to bottom and bottom to top against each other so the posts are covered. If they are clip earrings, clip one earring to the other with backs together.
Step3
Cut out a piece of bubble wrap or foam shipping sheet large enough to cover the earrings several times and fold over the ends. Place the Tiffany Earrings on the bubble wrap or foam sheet and begin rolling the earrings. Roll them once, then fold in one side. Roll them once more and fold in the other side. Continue to roll until all of the wrap you cut is used.
Step4
Cut off a piece of tape that will go all the way around the earring package at least one time. Hold the end of the wrap tight with your finger until you get the end secure with tape, then wrap the tape around until you have used all the tape you cut. This will hold the wrapping secure.
Step5
Place the wrapped earrings in the envelope. Fold the clip ends together and moisten the seal to secure it. Fold the flap down and seal. Fold the clip down then tape across the seal itself and across the clip. This will assure your package will not be opened by accident.
Tips & Warnings
- If you are still unsure of your package, place the Tiffany Earrings in a small box before wrapping in bubble wrap. The box simply adds weight to your package making it cost more to ship.
- Do not place the earrings in tissue paper or tissues. They can puncture the tissue and be damaged during shipment.
